I would like to share our most recent experience in working with the Original Builders company and owner Vladimir. Project: Basement conversion, including a new bathroom, entertainment /bedroom, wardrobe and home gym : In summary, I have had many building projects over the years, from new build, renovations or conversions of space on 3 different continents of the globe and I have never had the opportunity to work with such a professional yet personable, patient, understanding and trustworthy individual. Since I am a bit of a DIY person (to keep cost down and liking a challenge) it was a real pleasure to also work alongside Vladimir who’s advice was always spot on and invaluable to the project. I am going to structure my review in a few categories, which is important to consider in any undertaking… I hope this review will help you to make a good/informed decision on your next project! Remember, going cheaper can most times end up being more expensive. Again thanks to Vladimir and his team for executing our project on target and against budget!

Communication / Project Management

From the outset Vladimir was extremely responsive, and it was not only until he got the contract or midway through the contract it was all the way. He would keep us up to date on everything, time of arrivals,who will be doing what and when on any given day. We do know that contractors have multiple projects running at once, and customers have a completion timelines. Therefore the timing is curtail for both parties to get the job done, Vladimir was onsite every day to inspect previous day’s work or instruct and agree on the following days’ work. Due to our timelines, he was able to FastTrack some parts of the project (since we also did some of the work) and work was completed over the weekend to ensure deadlines were met.

Flexibility / Adaptability & Trust

Throughout the project, Vladimir and his team were flexible to accommodate our needs and wants. Due to the fact that we were doing some of the work ourselves we did miss-judge some of the effort on our part and time ran out…. We had a vacation booked pre the decision to do the basement conversion and when we decided to do it and the work we would do vs what we could afford Original builders to complete we ran out of time! I contacted Vladimir whilst sitting at the airport (lastminute.com). Miserable because we could not finish our share and we had no time left when we return to do it, and asked him (giving him our very long –to-do-list) to check if they could take care of it whilst we were away, this was unplanned work for him and his team. He did not hesitate, he was able to check on the level of effort and materials and within a few hours he could give me a very reasonable quote to complete out this tasks as well as in the timeframe we needed it – we could enjoy our vacation & cocktails knowing we were in good hands & having complete trust that the job will be done when we return. I mean… who does that?? We came home and it was done! Nothing was ever too much effort, and never an inconvenience.

Trade and Job Knowledge

Vladimir has been in the business for many years and completed many projects as I have learned in talking to him. It is very evident when you start seeing him at work, he is very pragmatic, take a methodical approach and execute his work with precision. Things that were crooked are now completely level, aligned and straight. He were providing insights on things we may want to do, or stay away from. No task he attempted was to small, or a hassle. Things we had no idea what to do, he gave great advise and suggestions which we of course took and very happy with the results. It looks like he has pretty much done everything in the trade, and if he uses or work with subcontractors he completely control the situation and make sure they execute with his eye and precision. I like things done right, I think we all do if you pay for it and this case we got our moneys worth!

Cost

In my view, when you attempt these type of projects, you usually need to get at least 3 quotes to compare and make your decision. So we did and found the price point quoted not the cheapest, but it was also not the most expensive. As with many projects there was some changes we wanted to make during the project which was not on the original quote and could get it priced separately, which made it easier to keep track. In addition our original quote included some materials and furnishings we decided to take care of ourselves, and there was no issue to deduct the originally priced item/work back as credit to the change requests or from the final payment.

I’m 65 years old and rather picky…because I expect a job to be done correctly and without compromise. I rarely write a review because I am frequently disappointed with the work of others. However, I have absolutely no hesitation in giving the highest rating and recommendation to Original Builders LLC. Mr. Vladimir Kolarik and his associate exceeded my expectations: they were always on time, they listened carefully to my design and build requirements, they completed the project on time and on budget, and they regularly checked with me to ensure that I was satisfied. My “small” project included: design, framing, drywall, detailed trim work, painting, and wallpapering. At the end of my project, I was 100% pleased with the work performed by Original Builders, LLC. I have no hesitation in giving Mr. Kolarik my highest recommendation!

We are very pleased with our bathroom renovation project. Original Builders really listened to our ideas and took our vision from paper to reality. They were easy to work with and open to new ideas, but also helpful in answering questions and hunting down materials when we got stuck along the way. One of the most important things to us was attention to detail, and they made sure that all work was completed to our expectations. The project took a little longer than anticipated and was a bit pricey, but the results turned out great!

Original Builders did a fantastic job remodeling my master bathroom. The work was done on time and on budget and in a very professional manner by extremely knowledgeable and capable workers. The craftsmanship was outstanding, which prompted me to get the guys to do a number of other “projects” around the house while they were on site. Bottom line: Original Builders, LLC is a top quality contractor which deserves the highest recommendation.

They did an outstanding job on our kitchen remodel. Vladimir’s attention to detail and versatility in design helped make everything exceed our expectations. Service was prompt, reliable and honest. We are exceptionally pleased with the outcome.

Vladimir was great to work with. We had our entire kitchen gutted and redone. His team was very professional and made my family comfortable the entire time. I would strongly recommend using for your next job!

I could not write a recommendation that would sufficiently describe how highly I recommend this company. I had Vladimir and his team remodel my kitchen, living room, dining room and half bath. I can honestly say that there was not one thing that went wrong. Everything that I showed him was executed exactly as I had planned. This is a quality guy who does phenomenal work. You will not be disappointed!

My experience with Original Builders was wonderful. The contractor was punctual, professional, and honest. He was able to recreate the description that I gave him and make it fit for my small space. The crown molding in the living and dining rooms give my condo a very updated and modern look. The tray ceilings in the bedroom give the room a luxurious look. I am very pleased with the work and would highly recommend this company to others. I look forward to working with them on my next project.

We had Original Builders come in and revamp our kitchen. We had all new appliances installed, all new cabinets installed on the top, the bottom cabinets refaced and painted, tile backsplash, and a custom island built. This was our first experience ever using a contractor and we cannot say enough about what a pleasant experience this was. Vladimir is extremely professional and knowledgeable. The crew he used throughout the project was also very professional. He always kept us updated and responded promptly to any questions and concerns we might have. He also helped me during this project with decisions on color and style. He really has an eye for what will look best. He is a perfectionist and it showed through how much attention to detail he gave throughout the entire project. We LOVE our kitchen and can’t wait to use him again!!

We hired Original Builders to finish a bonus room in our house. The previous owners of our home started to finish it, but there was still a lot that needed to be done to make it a completed space. Vladimir built two custom cabinet units for us (one was sunken into the wall and the other was an entertainment unit). They fixed and finished the drywall, insulated areas that were not previously insulated, fixed the squeaky floors, painted, and installed crown molding. The room turned out wonderful! They were also clean and professional. Vladimir would always call or email me back quickly no matter what question I had or what time of day. I would (and have already) recommend Original Builders.

I found it extremely difficult to find someone to do a small job converting a broom closet to accommodate a washer and dryer. Since I am retired, I wanted a contractor who would do the complete job – not only the carpentry work but also the electrical and plumbing.

It was such a pleasure working with Original Builders I find it difficult to find the words to describe how happy we are with the results. The crew was on time; did exactly what they said they would; and were extremely courteous and respectful of us and our home. I am looking forward to finding another project just so I can hire them. I would recommend them to anyone.

Vladimir and his crew did a great job of renovating our deck and rebuilding the retaining wall and fence around our pool area. He always kept me fully informed of what was going on and brought any issues to me right away. It was very great working with Vladimir and I would highly recommend him.

Vladimir came through for me when I was on a real tight schedule to update my stairway before I moved in. He delivered on time and he is truly a craftsman that cares about quality of workmanship, service and pleasing the customer. I would highly recommend him for any project you are considering.
